Sled registration begins at the Arboretum at 1 p.m., sleds run at 2:30 p.m. Prizes will be announced and awarded after all sleds run. The Battle Creek Symphony presents “Be My Valentine” on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 7:30pm at the W.K. Kellogg Auditorium. Sleeping Beauty and Romeo and Juliet—music as melodic, dramatic, and passionate as love itself. With a guest appearance by the Grand Rapids Ballet, this concert is pure romance. Listeners will travel back in time with two star-crossed lovers, honoring Henri Mancini and Nino Rota with A Time for Us (The Love Theme from Romeo and Juliet.) The icing on the cake is the suite from Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet, one of the greatest ballet scores in musical history containing some of his most memorable and musical melodies. This will be a special celebration of the founding of the Battle Creek Symphony, which had its first concert on February 16, 1899. JOIN BRANCH GYMNASTICS FOR A WEEKEND OF COMPETITION AND CAMARADERIE Branch Gymnastics hosted its first Cereal City Classic in 1995. At the time, it was the first ever gymnastics competition to host both men’s and women’s youth gymnastics within the same event. This gave clubs the ability to travel to a meet with their entire program; both men’s and women’s teams! Due to the success and reception of the meet, hosting both men’s and women’s competition at the same event is now a common practice! Cereal City Classic is hosted in Battle Creek, MI each year, the cereal capital of the world and headquarters of Kellogg’s. The Cereal City Concert Band invites you to join the festivities for our thrilling February concert, “Festival Classics!” Some of the best-loved literature in the concert band world is included in the setlist for this program, full of showpieces that give ensemble members a chance to demonstrate their musical talent and technical ability. Without a doubt, folks who played in high school or university bands will instantly remember the haunting melodies and rocketing rhythms in these classic works that highlight the technical skill and musicianship demanded by these pieces.
