The Battle Creek Regional History Museum is welcoming historic re-enactor Vickie St. John who will be holding a traditional Victorian Tea as part of an exclusive program on November 9th, 2024 from 2-4 PM. A perfect way to put some sparkle into the season, and get some creative ideas for your upcoming holiday celebrations! This is a very limited seating event for only 50 people. The program will feature a presentation from Ms. St. John on the history and traditions of a Victorian women's tea, clothing, food and also parlor games. Join us at the Battle Creek Regional History Museum for a special presentation by cemetery preservation experts Bobbie Mathis and Andrew Noland. They will cover some of the history of cemeteries, the preservation of historic tombstones, monuments and markers. They will also discuss in detail repair methods, restoration as will as symbology that you might encounter in historic cemeteries. Bobbie Mathis and Andrew Noland have repaired and restored thousands of historic tombstones in cemeteries across Michigan and in surrounding states. Join us at the Battle Creek Regional History Museum for a very special presentation by shipwreck hunter Ross Richardson! Tickets are $5 and can be ordered online or picked up at the museum during hours of operation. This program is based on the popular website MICHIGANMYSTERIES.COM How many missing persons, missing aircraft and missing ships are there in the Michigan Region? Dozens? Hundreds? Try thousands! Explore some of the Michigan Region’s most mysterious disappearances and the histories surrounding them. This program includes shipwreck stories and documentation and updates on current searches for missing aircraft. Shipwreck hunter and author Ross Richardson has spent the last two decades exploring the bottom of the Great Lakes and discovering and documenting long lost shipwrecks. His website, michiganmysteries.com, is dedicated to the stories of the missing ships, missing aircraft and missing persons of the Michigan Region. Richardson is on the board of directors at the Maritime Heritage Alliance in Traverse City and spends his spare time researching the Great Lakes Region’s mysteries and building models of Great Lakes vessels.

She was raised in Detroit during the Great Depression by a single mother who worked as a bootlegger. She began performing at a young age, entertaining patrons at her mother's speakeasy. She rose to fame in the 1940's after performing on Broadway, and later in 1941 signing a contract with Paramount Pictures. During those years she also recorded numerous singles for Capital Records. Her last feature film was in 1957 with Spring Reunion. She passed away in 2007 at the age of 86. She starred in the movie 'Dream Girl' with MacDonald Carey and Virginia Field in 1948, directed by Mitchell Leisen. A comedy film where a daydreamer, Georgie Allerton's (Betty Hutton) imagination goes to work while she falls in love with her sister Miriam's (Virginia Field) husband-to-be, Jim Lucas (Patric Knowles).
