Opening reception Sunday, April 7 @ 2-4pm. With support from W.K. Kellogg Bird Sanctuary, Battle Creek Bee Club, and Perfect Storm Comic and Gifts, we'll delve into the flight powers of bats, birds, and bugs, even superheroes from pop culture, with information on how each achieves flight in their own unique ways. "Things That Fly" coincides with the 100th anniversary of the Battle Creek Executive Airport, the longest running airport in the state of Michigan. We are honored to celebrate this milestone with them and others throughout our city this year! Art Center of Battle Creek is open Tues-Thurs and Sat @ 11am-3pm with free admission. Donations welcome. Also on exhibit will be landscapes by local artist Bill Williams.

Theatre Week | What A Do Theatre Field Trip to Six: The Musical

Theatre week will showcase our local actors and artists in a series of different events taking place from May 19-May 25. On Sunday, May 19th, What A Do Theatre will be traveling to Wharton in Lansing, Michigan to see the Broadway National Tour of Six: The Musical. This is through a partnership between What A Do Theatre and Wharton's Arts within Reach Program. The goal of this partnership is to make the arts affordable and accessible for all! Willard Beach Park will be the site for this high quality multi sport event. There is a sprint distance triathlon and a sprint distance duathlon. Relay teams of all types are also encouraged to participate. Swim 500 meters, Bike 12.4 miles (20K), Run 3.1 miles (5K). This is one of the best courses around for a sprint distance triathlon, duathlon, or relay. This year the Cereal City Triathlon & Duathlon is offering both 2 and 3-person relays. Each team member will be able to register and pay individually as well, so no need to worry about who is footing the bill! Grab your fastest friends, your swim team teammates, and your cycling pals and put together a winning relay team! Returning this year, ages 18 and under can participate in our "Super Sprint" option which consists of a 400 meter swim, 10K bike, and 3K run. Kids will swim, bike and run within and around Willard Beach Park. All participants will receive a completion medal, a t-shirt and swim cap. Scholarships are now available for the Cereal City KIDS Triathlon event, thanks to the Cereal City Triathlon. Nominate a child you know who would love to have the opportunity to experience the event but may have a financial obstacle in the way!
