DESCRIPTION:Join us for the Battle Creek Regional History Museum’s 4th Annual concert celebrating the music of Del Shannon and his era. Del Shannon wrote and performed his hit song Runaway for the first time in Battle Creek\, and launched his career as a music legend. \nAll proceeds from this concert goes to support the museum and future exhibits to preserve the music history of our city. \nThis year the popular 60’s Tribute Band band Glad All Over returns to highlight the performance featuring songs from the era. \nOpening the show will be Motown Tribute artist Rob Carter who will also offer some new surprises this year lending his remarkable voice to singing some of Del Shannon’s songs as well. \nThe concert will be held at the W.K. Kellogg Auditorium this year\, with an intermission and great music merchandise and fun! Kellogg Auditorium May 18th\, 2024 at 7:30 PM–with special guest\, Lydia Harrel!\nPlease ensure your tickets are secured and your seatbelts are fastened as our Pilot and Principal Conductor Michael Garasi begins our descent to Battle Creek. \n\nJoining us is Battle Creek native\, Lydia Harrell\, who will return to her hometown to accompany us at the Spring Concert. Now a resident of Boston and a member of the faculty at the renowned Berklee College of Music\, Harrell grew up in Battle Creek where she attended Pennfield Schools and Kellogg Community College. \n\nLydia’s list of career accomplishments includes winning both the 2015 Duke Ellington Jazz Vocal and 2017 Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival Voice Competitions\, appearances with John Batiste and the Boston Pops\, and singing the National Anthem at the Massachusetts gubernatorial inauguration. She won Best Song honors at the 48 Hour Film Project in Boston and sang on the 2022 Daytime Emmy-winning song “Grateful For It All.” Lydia has appeared in numerous commercials\, films\, and theater productions\, including a role in the 2023 film “Boston Strangler.” \n\nThe 2024 Spring Concert is in honor of Battle Creek Airport’s 100th Anniversary.
