YOU ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE A NEW ROD THIS YEAR. \nJohnny “Jake” Collier passed away at home on February 17th 2022. Jake was a loving\, kind man who was cherished by all who knew him. Jake was a lifelong fisherman. One of his wishes was to share his love of fishing with the youth of Battle Creek. \nThe Collier Family has started a Memorial Fund and would like to honor Jake’s last wishes by gifting 60 fishing rods\, some simple tackle\, and fishing instructions to Battle Creek Kids.\nIn partnership with the City of Battle Creek\, MI Government\, Small Business Battle Creek\, Battle Creek Parks Recreation\, and Smitty’s Sport Shop\, the poles will be distributed and fishing instructions given on the shoreline of Goguac Lake on August 10h\, 2025 from 9:00am to 12 Noon. \nThe details are as follows: \n– 60 fishing pole kits are available free of charge\n– Limit 1 per child\n– Age limit 5 – 16 years old\n– Register in person for the fishing pole kit and fishing instructions at Smitty’s 1408 W Michigan Ave\, Battle Creek\, MI 49037 \nRegistration Dates: \n-Monday\, July 28th 12:15pm – 3:15pm\n-Tuesday\, July 29th 12:15 – 4:45pm\n-Wednesday\, July 30th 12:15pm – 4:45pm\n-Thursday\, July 31st 12:15 – 4:45pm\n-Friday\, August 1st 11:30am – 4:45pm \nWhile supplies last: \nEach child will receive a voucher for their fishing pole kit.\nEach child will be required to register for 1 of the 6 half hour time slots to pick up the fishing pole kit and is encouraged learn how to fish with the Collier Family\, Friends\, and Anglers from Smitty’s Sport Shop between 9:00 AM – 12:00 Noon on Sunday August 10th\, 2025 on Goguac Lake. \nThanks to Jake and other donors we are going to teach some kids how to fish! \nTo donate to this event\, please visit https://bccfoundation.fcsuite.com/erp/donate/create/fund?funit_id=6050
